DIY KiwiSaver - build your own KiwiSaver portfolio

With over 3 million New Zealander’s now taking part in KiwiSaver with over $70 billion invested, KiwiSaver has become arguably the most successful financial product in New Zealand's history, with an even brighter future.

As part of KiwiSaver’s evolution, investors now have the ability to manage their own KiwiSaver investments alongside a Financial Adviser via a self-select KiwiSaver Scheme called KiwiWRAP KiwiSaver Scheme, managed by Consilium NZ limited (Consilium).

Instead of the hands-off approach of mainstream KiwiSaver funds, investors will have the ability to hand-pick their investments from an extensive Authorised Investment List (AIL) provided with an Investment Options Supplement. Investors will have access to over 400 securities (ETF’s, funds, international shares and bonds) allowing them to build an investment portfolio that suits their goals, needs and appetite for risk with guidance from an adviser accredited to use the Scheme. This scheme is ideal for investors that want customisable investment choices, more control over their retirement savings, and full transparency of their holdings.

DIY retirement investing isn’t new or unique to New Zealand with the Craigs KiwiSaver Scheme offering a self-select investment option limited to just 190 securities. The scheme offered by Consilium is more cost-effective than the Craigs KiwiSaver Scheme and offers a much larger Approved Investment List (AIL) giving investors more choice to invest in areas that match their values. Self-managed super is more common in Australia and other countries such as the United States and is popular with people who prefer a hands-on approach or who would like a personalised portfolio to help them reach their goals.
